Edward Norton, David Letterman Talk Poker And The Possibility of Rounders 2

Last week actor Edward Norton appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote his new movie *“Birdman”. Before Norton and Letterman got to the business at hand, they pair take a minute to talk poker and the possibility of the long rumored “Rounders 2”

Dave, who seemingly is a fan of the film, jumped right into it with Norton.

Here’s a transcript and the full clip is at the end of the post.

Letterman: “Whenever your name comes up I think of two things. One, the great movie “Rounders.” Tremendous film. I just now heard, which I don’t believe possible, the possibility of a second Rounders. I don’t know how you make a second Rounders. Is there a possibility of it?”

Norton: “I think there is a possibility of it. Yea, we um, we couldn’t have had more fun making that movie. That was one of the best gangs of people ever. We did it right on the cusp of what became kind of the resurgence of the poker phenomonon. And I think Matt and I talked later…we should have negotiated like a 5% rake on every poker pot that was played after that. Then we could have made the film with our money!”

Letterman: “The movie actually created a new enthusiasm for the card game didn’t it?”

Norton: “I think it did. It was a part of it for sure. Certainly some guys, like Chris Moneymaker when he won the World Series said he started playing poker because he saw the movie. I literally stopped going to Vegas for many years because so many people would scream “Worm!”

Letterman: “That happens to me and I wasn’t even in the movie.”
