Partypoker Set to Host its Biggest Online Tournament Series this Summer

Partypoker in conjunction with the World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced a new online tournament series called WPT World Online Championships that will take place this Summer on partypoker.

It will be the biggest guaranteed online tournament series in the history of partypoker.

Running from July 1 to August 9, the series will comprise 15 championship events, including the $10,300 buy-in Season XVIII WPT World Championship Online, kicking off on August 1.

As per the press release, it will offer the largest guaranteed prize pool for a $10,000 buy-in event in the history of WPT.

The full schedule for the series is expected to be revealed soon.

Partypoker’s previous biggest guaranteed online tournament series is $60 million. That size of series has been held twice, both coming during Powerfest, operator’s flagship series, once in 2018 and the second one very recently.

Considering that this will be the operator’s largest online festival, its safe to assume that the WPT World Online Championships series will at least have $65 million or even more.

“With the live poker schedule likely to be empty over the traditionally hectic summer months, we have been working on plans for a huge online festival to provide an alternative for players that would normally migrate to Vegas,” said Tom Waters, partypoker Managing Director.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to partner with WPT to revive the WPT World Championships and bring the series online for the first time,” he added.

At the time of writing, 54 SCOOP tournaments have completed generating over $25 million in prize money.

Looking at how things have gone so far, there is a possibility that the operator could further raise SCOOP guarantees by another $5 million and hit the $100 million mark.
