Payment Methods for UK Online Casinos

The ability to easily deposit funds and withdraw winnings has always been one of the most important features for fans of online gambling around the globe. In the UK, players have access to a variety of payment methods although recent regulatory changes have made it somewhat more difficult.

UK punters can still fund their online casino accounts with relative ease, but there is a clear tendency to limit the scope of options moving forward. This is the breakdown of the situation at the time of writing this article.

Credit and Debit Cards

Credit and debit cards have traditionally been one of the most popular options for gamblers around the globe. Almost everyone has access to them these days, and depositing with them is as easy as typing in a few numbers.

In the UK, players can still deposit with their debit cards, but the use of credit cards for gambling purposes has been banned. Licensed and registered business in the country aren’t allowed to process gambling transactions originating from credit cards.

The purpose of this measure, which has been in place since April 14, 2020, is to prevent people from playing with money they don’t have and going into deb. Players can still use debit cards and deposit funds they have readily available in their accounts.

PayPal

Although PayPal used to be very anti-gambling in the past, the company has expanded into the world of online gambling in the recent years. While PayPal deposits and withdrawals aren’t available on the global scale, there are quite a few countries where the method is supported and the UK is one of them.

It’s not hard to find an online PayPal casino in UK as most operators readily accept this payment method for deposits and withdrawals alike. It is one of the fastest and safest options available to UK players at this time although connected fees are typically larger than when using alternatives.

E-wallets

E-wallets like NETELLER and Skrill continue to be one of the favorite options for online casino transactions. Although there are some fees and processing charges, UK players often prefer to use e-wallets as they make it easy to make transactions without having to share card details with every individual operator.

Setting up an e-wallet account only takes a few minutes and once everything is set up, moving money to and from the account is very quick and simple. For those who play on several different sites this is also a great option as they don’t have to move money to and from their bank account all the time.

Alternative Options

In addition to these most popular options, UK players have access to quite a few alternatives, especially when it comes to deposits. Prepaid vouchers represent a quick way to get some funds into an online casino account and some operators also allow a pay-by-phone option.

The latter gives players a chance to make an instant deposit and only pay once their phone bill arrives. It has been harshly criticized by some in the UK who believe that this practice, just like credit cards, needs to be stopped.

All in all, UK players still have ample options when it comes to online casino payment methods. Although a few options have been or are likely to be removed in the future, the number of readily available and completely legal methods is still quite big.
