Could Vanessa Kade Become PokerStars’ Next Team Pro?

Visualization techniques played a key role in Kade's preparations before taking down PokerStars' Sunday Million last year.

Celebrating one year since Vanessa Kade took down the PokerStars Sunday Million for over a million dollars, she revealed that, ahead of her win, she would visualize winning the event — as well as becoming a PokerStars Team Pro.

To date, at least one of these dreams has come true.

As per the PokerStars blog, Kade says:

I also read a bit about other mental exercises including visualization and tried an activity where I wrote the words: “I am so happy and grateful now that I have won the Sunday Million and am a PokerStars Team Pro.” Not a bracelet. Not a ring. Not the WSOP Main Event. The Sunday Million.

PokerStars signing Kade as a Team Pro would certainly make sense. Kade currently does not have an ambassadorship in place, having recently parted ways with ACR.

Could Kade’s visualization techniques work for a second time? Will PokerStars sign her?

According to LinkedIn, Kade resided in British Columbia, CA, where she can play PokerStars’ global site and defend her title this Sunday.

The operator is also planning to launch PokerStars Ontario in the coming weeks — if she was willing to move east, she could even be the first ambassador for this fledgling new site.

Is Online Poker Coming to New York State?

Online casino gaming and online poker could become legal as a new iGaming bill is introduced to the NY Senate.

A bill introduced in New York calls for online poker and casino gaming to become legalized in the state.

As reported in Poker Industry PRO, if the new bill, snappily dubbed S8412, wins passage the New York State Gaming Commission could ultimately award about 24 licenses to online gaming operators — providing an opportunity for large and small operators alike to launch in NY.

Currently, only sports betting is legal in the state. Its popularity has quickly made New York the top state in terms of volume for sports betting wagers across all regulated US markets.

If the state were to offer online casino games and online poker it could be a huge opportunity for all involved.

FanDuel To Launch Online Casino, Sports Betting in Ontario

The brand best known for US daily fantasy & sports betting will join the likes of Unibet, 888, WSOP, & GGPoker who all plan to launch in Ontario next month.

According to reports coming out of Canada Gaming Review, a license has been issued to FanDuel for online casino gaming and sports betting in Ontario when the new regulated market launches on April, 4, 2022.

From that date in April, licensed companies will be able to offer regulated online poker, casino, and sports betting in Ontario to players within the province.

FanDuel joins a growing list of successful applicants, including Unibet, GGPoker, LeoVegas, Rivalry, and 888poker all hoping to go live in the province.

As far as we know, only two of these operators are expected to offer online poker — WSOP, through a GGPoker license, and 888poker Ontario.

The province will only offer ring-fenced games, meaning players in ON will only be able to play with other players in the province. Shared player pools with other provinces will not be offered at this time.

FanDuel will likely only offer sports betting and online casino gaming in Ontario. However, its parent company, Flutter, certainly has online poker interests — it owns PokerStars.

This means that we could potentially see PokerStars also get a license in Ontario in the near future.
