Brandon Wilson Wins Super High Roller Bowl XI for $1.125 Million

Wilson turned a fourth-place stack into his sixth PGT title, defeating Nick Petrangelo heads-up in Las Vegas.

Brandon Wilson won Super High Roller Bowl XI at PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, beating a 28-entry field in the $103,000 no-limit hold’em event. He collected $1.125 million, 400 PGT points and the sixth PGT title of his career, which was also his most valuable on the tour.

The tournament generated a $2.8 million prize pool and paid its five finalists. Nick Petrangelo finished runner-up for $700,000 and 210 PGT points, while Alex Foxen took third for $450,000 and 125 points. Jeremy Ausmus earned $310,000 for fourth, and Adrian Mateos received $215,000 and 65 points for fifth.

As we reported Oct. 1, Foxen carried the chip lead into the five-player finale after Kristen Foxen bubbled the event in sixth place. Wilson had begun the final day fourth in chips after eliminating Kristen Foxen on the money bubble, then doubled through Alex Foxen at the final table to avoid being its first elimination and take the lead.

Wilson then eliminated Mateos in fifth before knocking out Foxen in third. Foxen’s pocket sevens ran into Wilson’s pocket eights, and another eight arrived on the board.

Wilson held a slight advantage when heads-up play began against Petrangelo. The deciding hand ended with Wilson making a straight and calling Petrangelo’s river bluff to secure the title.

The result followed a final-day turnaround from the prior chip counts, which had Foxen on 2.87 million, Petrangelo on 1.68 million, Mateos on 1.51 million, Wilson on 1.27 million and Ausmus on 1.07 million. Five additional entries joined the 12 Day 1 survivors before late registration closed, taking the event to 28 entries.
