Mike Scarborough took a huge lead in the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition Southern Indiana $800 Main Event on Day 1c, finishing with 989,000 chips after busting Shane Collins on the money bubble. Only 19 players survived the flight, and Scarborough ended the night well clear of the rest of the field.
PokerNews’ recap said Scarborough had already built momentum earlier when he flopped a flush to crack Dan LaDuke’s kings. Jonathon Murphy finished second on 624,000, defending champion Jasper May bagged 482,000, and James Lyle ended with 391,000. Charles Edlin, Dale Stafford, John Frenz and RunGood ambassador Matthew Lawrence also advanced.
The run added another strong Caesars Southern Indiana result to Scarborough’s resume. He won the WSOP Circuit Main Event at the same venue in 2023, made the final table of this same event back in May, and his record also includes a 2011 WPT title after he beat Hall of Famer Erik Seidel heads-up.
Ahead of the series, a preview put the $800 buy-in event at a $200,000 guarantee and said it would run across four starting flights. By the time the Day 1c report landed, the field had reached 275 entries through three starting flights, and Day 1d had added 118 more entries with 14 players advancing.
