Tim Pool Says He Wins $100-$150 an Hour at Low-Stakes Poker
The podcaster says he has been grinding about 20 hours a week since 2020 and expects to keep showing up at tournament stops.
Tim Pool says he is a profitable poker player and believes he can win about $100 to $150 an hour in low-stakes cash games. PokerNews said he made the claim while talking at the 2026 Potomac Summer Poker Open in Maryland.
As covered in yesterday’s report, his Potomac Main Event run had already ended with a river king, and he was back at a cash-game table almost immediately. Pool said he has been playing since he was a little kid, but only started playing consistently about six or seven years ago.
He said around 2020 he began playing about 20 hours a week, and that he has kept that pace consistently since then. He also said he watches a lot of poker online and used to study quite a bit.
Pool usually plays $1/$2 or $1/$3. For July, he said he was tracking about 50 big blinds an hour on low stakes and felt he was doing pretty well. The profile says he first got interested in Texas Hold’em and later played online with play money on the Play WSOP app.
PokerNews says Pool is mainly a cash game player. After winning a couple grand in $5/$10 Las Vegas cash games this summer, he decided to play the $10,000 WSOP Main Event and made Day 2 before running ace-king into pocket aces and going out outside the money.
At the same Potomac stop, he also busted the $500 Opener with ace-jack against pocket nines after flopping a jack. In the $3,000 Main Event, he got all in with ace-five against pocket kings, briefly took the lead with two pair, and lost when a king hit the river. During tournament breaks, he said he often sits down at video poker and blackjack machines, and he expects to keep turning up at more tournament stops, including WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.
