Key points
  1. Ontario’s regulated iGaming revenue rose 26.2% year over year to CA$416.3 million in September.
  2. Casino generated CA$340.8 million and sports betting added CA$69.1 million.
  3. Peer-to-peer poker produced about CA$6.4 million in revenue from approximately CA$130 million in wagers.
  4. Active player accounts reached about 1.41 million, though customers may maintain accounts with multiple operators.

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market generated CA$416.3 million in gross gaming revenue in September, up 26.2% from a year earlier and 5% from CA$396.3 million in August. Total wagering reached CA$9.71 billion, a 13.6% year-over-year increase.

Betting News reported that stronger casino and sports-betting results helped drive Ontario’s September performance. Ontario’s 20% revenue-sharing model returned about CA$83 million to the provincial government from operator revenue during the month.

Online casino remained the market’s largest segment, producing CA$340.8 million in revenue, or roughly 82% of the total. Casino revenue rose 22.7% year over year, while its wagering volume accounted for about 88% of the province’s September handle.

Sports betting generated CA$69.1 million in revenue from about CA$1.07 billion in wagers. Its 47.3% annual revenue increase outpaced casino’s growth rate.

Peer-to-peer poker contributed about CA$6.4 million in revenue, with players wagering approximately CA$130 million on regulated platforms. Ontario and Alberta have explored a potential shared-liquidity arrangement, which could increase tournament participation and game availability by combining their player pools.

Active player accounts rose to a monthly record of about 1.41 million, up 20.1% from September 2025 and 16.8% from August. The account total does not equate to the same number of individual players, since customers can hold accounts with multiple licensed operators. New approvals for Betsafe, BetMaster and Loonie Casino also pointed to continued competition among Ontario operators.

The September performance followed a strong third year for the province’s open market. iGaming Ontario recorded $82.7 billion in wagers and $3.2 billion in gross gaming revenue from April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025, when 49 operators ran 84 gaming sites. Over that period, poker produced $66 million in revenue from $1.7 billion in wagers, with revenue unchanged from the prior market year.

The monthly figures cover eligible games offered through operating agreements with iGaming Ontario. They exclude OLG’s iGaming offering and pari-mutuel horse-racing wagers, and remain unaudited and subject to adjustment.
