Potomac Summer Poker Open Returns to MGM National Harbor With 23 Events

The 13-day series carries more than $1.5 million in guarantees, led by a $750,000 Main Event.

MGM Resorts said the Potomac Summer Poker Open returns to MGM National Harbor from Aug. 5-17 with 23 trophy events and more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools. The series is being run with BetMGM Poker and is anchored by a $3,000 Main Event with a $750,000 guarantee.

The opening no-limit hold’em event has a $500,000 guarantee and a $600 entry. A $500 Monumental Stack with a $100,000 guarantee is also on the schedule.

The rest of the lineup leans into variety. Mixed-game events include TORSE, Mixed PLO, 8-Game Mix, PLO 8 and Big O, while bounty events include Double Board PLO Bomb Pot, 5-Card PLO Bounty and Cakes Classic Bounty NLH.

The Main Event runs Aug. 14-17, with starting flights on Aug. 14 and 15 and Day 2 on Aug. 16. The schedule PDF says MGM National Harbor is no longer withholding auto-gratuity from buy-ins for staff, and instead each event has an optional add-on that is included in the total buy-in shown on the schedule.

PokerNews reported that last year’s Potomac Poker Open Main Event drew 377 entries, generated a $1,017,900 prize pool and ended with Robert Anderson beating Lucas Vergara heads-up for $211,915. This year’s champion will be crowned at the final table on Aug. 17.
