Lilac Club Casino Sets $60,000 Legends of Poker Event With Hellmuth and Deeb
The Sept. 24 one-day tournament in Rochester will also feature a $500 bounty on each headliner and support two local nonprofits.
Lilac Club Casino will stage its $60,000 Legends of Poker Tournament: One-Day Challenge on Thursday, Sept. 24, with Phil Hellmuth and Shaun Deeb set to headline the field. The event begins at 4 p.m. at the Lilac Club Casino Poker Room in Rochester, New Hampshire.
An announcement published by the Des Moines Register lists Hellmuth, described as a 17-bracelet winner, and Deeb, described as a nine-bracelet winner, as the featured poker champions. Jason White, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow and Brandon Cantu are also scheduled to join the tournament.
The Sept. 24 stop is Lilac Club Casino’s second major poker tournament featuring Hellmuth. He first played at the property last year, and the casino positioned his return as a follow-up to the inaugural event.
Players who knock out either Hellmuth or Deeb will receive a $500 Champions Bounty. Seats may be limited at the discretion of Poker Room management, and the casino directs players to its poker room for complete registration and satellite information.
Interest has already begun through the first satellite on Sept. 13, where several players earned main-event seats. A final Mega Satellite Tournament takes place Sept. 20. Players can also enter through a $600 buy-in available at the Lilac Club Poker Room from 9 a.m. that day.
The tournament will benefit Thriving Roots Childcare and the Seacoast Educational Endowment of Dover. Under New Hampshire’s charitable-gaming model, participating nonprofits receive a designated portion of gaming proceeds generated during their assigned dates.
Thriving Roots Childcare serves children from six weeks to six years old. Funds it receives are earmarked to replace flooring in its pre-K classroom and buy new playground equipment. The Seacoast Educational Endowment of Dover provides grants to Dover public-school educators for continuing education, classroom resources and teaching tools.
“Bringing an event of this caliber to New Hampshire is exciting, but its ability to support organizations serving local children, families, and educators is what makes it especially meaningful,” Granite State Gaming & Hospitality COO Eric Barbaro said. Granite State Gaming & Hospitality, an affiliate of G2 Gaming, oversees Lilac Club Casino and Beach Club Casino in Hampton Beach.
