Daniel Negreanu Heads to Vancouver to Stream WSOP Online Run
The eight-time bracelet winner says it is “incredibly stupid” that he must leave the U.S. to play online.
Daniel Negreanu is traveling from Las Vegas to Vancouver to play WSOP Online, saying he will spend a week in a hotel room competing online.
He plans to stream the run on his YouTube channel, beginning with the $10,000 GGMillion$ PLO event. As we reported in August, Negreanu had already booked Vancouver as the next stop on his Canadian poker trip after Montreal.
The eight-time bracelet winner used the trip to criticize the restricted U.S. online-poker landscape. “It is just so incredibly stupid that you have to leave America to play online poker,” Negreanu wrote on X. “What are we even doing?” He added that, despite repeated efforts over the years, he was not hopeful that anything would pass at the federal level.
Online poker remains unavailable to most Americans, although regulated options exist in a handful of states. Poker.org noted that other U.S. players commonly either use offshore sites such as ACR Poker, stop playing online, or travel abroad to access international player pools.
The Vancouver schedule also includes Day 1s in the $25 million guaranteed Main Event, followed by Day 2 on Monday and the final table on Tuesday. Other highlighted events are a $25,000 High Roller on Tuesday, a $5,000 High Roller Bounty PLO on Thursday and a $10,000 Heads-Up Championship next Saturday.
The online bracelet schedule ends with Day 2 of the $10,000 GGMillion$ High Rollers on Monday, Sept. 28.
