partypoker Provides Pre-Flop Practice For Ballers And Beginners

Get a refresher course on opening ranges.

Before you hit the felt this weekend, perhaps you’ll want to give yourself a little reminder on some ideas for pre-flop opening ranges. partypoker continues to release some rudimentary strategy videos with the help of their young professor Josef Rantamaki and this time it’s a basic guide of what hands you should/could consider opening the pot with in various positions.

Here Josef explains (in the comments) the purpose of his video:

The purpose of this video is to give viewers a sense of which TYPES of hands fit into each range, why and which factors dictates the width each range. I don’t think it’s not enough to talk about “wide” or “narrow” ranges when teaching poker to beginners without also explaining which hands these ranges consist of if they are well balanced.

So whether you are just dipping your toes into the online or live poker waters or even if you’re damn sure that you are the best player on the planet but have just “been running horrible” – give this under 15 minute lesson a watch. Don’t be discouraged by Rantamaki’s sometimes monotone delivery -he’s got some interesting info on both value and bluffing ranges that will make you go “hmmmm.”
