Another successful PokerStars-sponsored event is in the books as the UKIPT Blackpool comes to a close. Running July 11 — 16, the event featured several tournaments, but it was the £1,100 Main Event that caught the most attention.
Combining direct buy-ins and online qualifiers, some of whom got their seats through the PokerStars new Power Path system, the UKIPT Main Event attracted a total of 262 entries. Among these were some well-known names, including the operator’s own Sam Grafton.
However, the win did not go to the hands of a professional this time around. Instead, it was one Tuan Le who took down the title, a Manchester-based father of four who enjoys poker as a hobby. Le started the day as the chip leader and was able to turn that starting advantage into a big win.
It took just over three hours for the six-handed final table to wrap up, so it wasn’t a long affair. The winner was actually sad it didn’t last a bit longer (despite banking £53,630). Coming from someone who enjoys the game and sees it as a break from everyday activities, we can definitely understand the sentiment.
