Adrian Mateos Holds Off Ausmus to Win 2026 Poker Masters Purple Jacket

Mateos won the series race with 451 points despite bubbling five events and cashing only three times.

Key points
  1. Mateos finished the Poker Masters with 451 points, ahead of Nicholas Palma and Nicholas Seward.
  2. Jeremy Ausmus needed a top-two result in the $51,000 finale but finished fourth, securing the jacket for Mateos.
  3. Mateos earned his points through a runner-up finish, an Event #5 victory and a fourth-place result.
  4. Sean Winter won the finale for $620,000 and became the first player above 2,000 PGT points this season.
  5. The PGT Sprint starts Oct. 27 at PokerGO Studio.

Adrian Mateos won the 2026 Poker Masters Purple Jacket after finishing first in the 10-event series at PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. His 451 PokerGO Tour points held up when Jeremy Ausmus, the last player who could pass him, was eliminated in fourth place in the $51,000 finale on Oct. 23.

Mateos also received a $25,000 PGT Passport. Nicholas Palma finished second in the series race with 407 points, while Nicholas Seward took third with 397.

As we reported Oct. 17, Mateos took the Purple Jacket lead by winning Event #5, and he ultimately built his winning total from only three cashes. He was runner-up to Palma in Event #2 for $151,200, beat Nick Schulman for $229,500 in Event #5, and placed fourth in Event #7 for $87,000, totaling $467,700.

The run was marked by narrow misses as well. Mateos bubbled the money five times during the series, then failed to cash in Events #8 through #10. “I had a big lead all the way, but in the last three events I wasn’t able to cash, so the sweat was real,” Mateos said.

The jacket is awarded to the Poker Masters player with the most official PGT leaderboard points across the series. Points come from in-the-money finishes, with the value determined by the payout and buy-in category. The 2026 edition produced 10 different event winners, while Daniyal Gheba and Sam Laskowitz were the only players in the final top 10 without an event title.

Sean Winter won the finale, defeating Laskowitz heads-up for $620,000. The 31-entry tournament created a $1.55 million prize pool and paid its top five finishers; Laskowitz earned $387,500 for second, while Ausmus collected $170,500 for fourth after needing at least a runner-up finish to overtake Mateos.

Winter’s second PGT title of the season took him to 2,223 season-long points, making him the first player to pass 2,000 in 2026. Ausmus moved to third with 1,812 points, while Mateos stood sixth on 1,760.

The PGT Sprint begins Oct. 27 at PokerGO Studio, running through Nov. 4 with seven single-day events carrying buy-ins from $5,300 to $10,500. Its points count toward the top 40 qualifying positions for the $500,000 PGT Championship freeroll on Jan. 11-12, 2027.
