Fernando “JNandez” Habegger has released “100 Essential Tips to Master Pot-Limit Omaha,” a 376-page PLO strategy book published by D+B Publishing. It is Habegger’s second book on the four-card game, following “Mastering Small Stakes Pot-Limit Omaha.”
The new title is built around 100 strategic tips, covering stack size, position, blockers, hand structure, equity, ranges and stack-to-pot ratio. Its chapters first address the components of a PLO hand, then apply them in hands running from preflop through the river.
Rather than present a fixed set of rules or formulas to memorize, the book aims to teach the decision-making behind PLO spots. Readers are asked to work through quizzes based on realistic situations and compare decisions with different holdings in similar scenarios, an approach intended to show how a choice affects an entire range.
A Poker.org extract illustrated that approach through positional decisions. It identifies several marginal hands that should be folded in early position but can become opens nearer the button, where acting last gives players more information, more control over pot size and better chances to realize equity.
The publisher says the book is for both No-Limit Hold’em players moving into PLO and regular PLO players looking to improve their strategic base and table decisions. PLO’s four hole cards and rapidly shifting equities can make the game complicated even for experienced players.
Habegger is a PLO specialist and the leading coach at PLOMastermind.com. He began playing poker in 2006, switched from No-Limit Hold’em to PLO toward the end of 2010, and launched PLO Mastermind in April 2018 under the JNandezPoker.com name. D+B Publishing describes him as a high-stakes professional who has trained hundreds of PLO players.
His tournament results include more than $1 million in lifetime live earnings, according to The Hendon Mob figures cited by PokerNews. He finished second in the 2023 WSOP Online $5,000 NLH/PLO event for about $330,000 and was runner-up in a $10,000 PLO event at the 2025 PGT PLO Series II for $181,400.
Jonathan Little wrote the foreword. The book is available in paperback and ebook formats, priced at $24.95 through D+B Publishing and $29.99 on Amazon.
