Allen Kessler was among 18 players still in contention in the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, one of the headline events of the Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker at Borgata in Atlantic City. The two-day tournament drew 38 entries and was due to award its winner on Friday, Nov. 6.

The field had been cut to fewer than half its starting size, leaving Kessler with a chance to win a title in the series that bears his “Chainsaw” nickname. PokerNews’ tournament update said the final prize pool had not yet been set when it was published.

The H.O.R.S.E. Championship carried a $25,000 guarantee when the Borgata stop was announced in October. As covered in our earlier report, the festival marked the first time Kessler brought the Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker to Borgata during the Borgata Fall Poker Open.

The Nov. 4-14 series features mixed-game formats alongside the H.O.R.S.E. event, including $600 buy-in tournaments in Omaha, Stud and Triple Draw. The wider Borgata Fall Poker Open had more than $4 million in guarantees.

The next $1,100 championship on the CMSOP schedule is the $35,000-guaranteed T.O.R.S.E. event, which begins Nov. 12. The series is set to close Nov. 14 with a $600 Triple-Triple Draw tournament featuring Ace-5, Deuce-7 and Badugi.
