PokerStars Marks the Chip Race’s 200th Episode With Bounty Special
$11 event on July 26 offers a $20,000 guarantee and a route into the Sunday Million Anniversary
PokerStars is marking The Chip Race Podcast’s 200th episode with an $11 special bounty tournament. PokerNews says knockouts will pay the bounty plus a $109 Sunday Million Anniversary ticket, while Poker.org described the reward as Daily Heat Phase 1 entries.
The Chip Race Special Bounty Builder runs on Sunday, July 26 at 16:30 WET, or 11:30 ET, and carries a $20,000 guarantee. The bounty list includes hosts David Lappin, Dara O’Kearney, and Barry Carter, plus PokerStars ambassadors Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg, Marle Spragg, and Sebastian Huber. Players in Germany, Sweden, Belgium, and Denmark are excluded because of licensing restrictions.
Poker.org reported that the podcast’s 200th episode airs on Friday, July 24. PokerNews said the milestone comes shortly after the Season 28 finale, which featured Jason Koon, Toby Stone, and PokerNews Podcast host Mike Holtz.
The show’s roots go back to a much smaller goal. Lappin said it was first meant to appeal to a couple of thousand Irish players by covering the local scene and to land sponsorship from PaddyPower Poker. He said the first goal was reached in seven episodes, while the sponsorship took more than 190 shows, and that the podcast’s growth came through word of mouth rather than paid promotion.
Over more than 200 episodes, The Chip Race has featured interviews with Phil Hellmuth, Mike Sexton, Jason Koon, Jennifer Tilly, Doug Polk, Stephen Chidwick, Shaun Deeb, Ike Haxton, Nick Schulman, Scott Seiver, and Vicky Coren, along with regulars Maria Konnikova, Jen Shahade, and Kat Arnsby. PokerNews says the show now has more than 25,000 listeners across 76 countries.
That ticket points into PokerStars’ Sunday Million 20th Anniversary, a $109, $5 million-guaranteed Progressive Knockout running in phases through September 6.
