Thunder Valley Mid-Major Championship Reaches Its Final Starting Flight
Five flights have produced 820 entries and 82 Day 2 qualifiers, with Noah Workman leading the penultimate flight on seven figures.
The RunGood Poker Series Season Finale $600 The Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship at Thunder Valley Casino Resort reached its final starting flight with five of six flights complete. Those five flights had produced 820 total entries, and 82 players had already locked up Day 2 seats.
PokerNews’ live update said Day 1e finished the night before the report. The penultimate flight drew 161 entries and sent 16 players through, with Noah Workman leading the group on 1,042,000 chips. Workman was the only player to top seven figures in an opening flight so far. Henri Lopez advanced with 481,000, Christopher Rudd finished on 473,000, and Jeff Platt moved on with 330,000. It was the fourth time Platt had cashed in a RGPS The Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship event.
Day 1f was set for 11 a.m. local time and was the last chance for players to book a seat in Day 2. Competitors began each starting flight with 30,000 chips, and blind levels were 30 minutes on Day 1 before stretching to 40 minutes on Day 2.
The event allowed one reentry per flight, and registration stayed open until the start of Level 9. The top 10% of each starting flight advanced to Day 2, while the top 12.5% finished in the money. Players who cashed without advancing received $1,100, and anyone qualifying more than once carried forward only their biggest stack, with the lower stack or stacks removed and paid out at the lowest Day 2 prize amount instead.
PokerNews said the championship carried a $500,000 guarantee and was being staged at Thunder Valley for the fourth year in a row. Last year’s winner was Sasha Sabbaghian, who took the title and $95,295. Day 2 was set to resume eight-handed, and the final table would be nine-handed.
