2026 Goliath Passes 12,000 Entries in Coventry
Farzin Sobhanpanah’s 2.1 million-chip Day 1f stack sets a new benchmark as Day 1g adds 928 more entries
The 2026 Goliath in Coventry has already passed 12,000 entries and is heading for another record, with more than 12,600 entries even if nobody else enters or re-enters. That would leave the £200 event only about 300 short of last year’s 12,961 turnout.
Earlier PokerNews coverage said the festival runs from July 23 to August 2 in Coventry and that Grosvenor expected about a £2 million prize pool for the Main Event. It also said the Goliath has grown every year since 2011 except during the 2020 and 2021 COVID years, when it moved online.
Day 1f drew 2,227 entries, the second-most of any Goliath flight since the event started in 2011, and only 137 players advanced to Day 2. Farzin Sobhanpanah finished with 2,100,000 chips, giving him the flight lead, the overall chip lead, and the biggest Day 1 stack in event history.
Day 1g followed later that evening with 928 entries and 91 Day 2 survivors. John Bousfield bagged the chip lead there with 900,000 chips, while the final non-turbo Day 1h already had 1,150 entries at the time of writing and more than 350 players on the alternate list.
