Arizona State Poker Championship Returns Aug. 13 at Talking Stick
The 20th annual event brings a $1,100 buy-in, a $3 million guarantee and live PokerNews coverage to Scottsdale.
The 20th annual Arizona State Poker Championship opens Aug. 13 at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. The No-Limit Hold’Em event carries a $1,100 buy-in and a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
According to PokerNews, the tournament runs through Aug. 19, and the outlet plans exclusive live reporting on site from the start until a winner is crowned, along with digital and social media coverage.
Day 1a begins at 10:15 a.m. local time on Aug. 13. Additional opening flights run once per day for the following three days, then Day 2 is set for Aug. 17, Day 3 for Aug. 18, and the final table for Aug. 19.
Players start with 20,000 chips and can add on another 20,000 for $30. The add-on money goes to tournament staff.
There are already some $140 Milestone Satellites running inside Talking Stick Resort, and more opportunities to get into the championship will be available in August leading up to the event.
Brandon Mitchell is the defending champion after winning last summer’s event for $525,700 and outlasting a field of 3,546 runners. He beat David Levy heads-up, and the title was sealed when middle pair held up against king-high on the flop.
Carl Carodenuto won the tournament in 2024 for $313,078, and it remains the biggest win of his career.
