Matthew Mizel Leads Potomac Opener Into Day 2
The $600 NLH event drew 1,508 runners, paid 153 spots and set a $156,190 top prize.
The $600 NLH Opener at the Potomac Summer Poker Open moved into Day 2 with 153 players still alive from a field of 1,508, and everyone returning was already in the money. The top prize is $156,190, while the minimum cash is $1,157.
Matthew Mizel led the pack with more than 1 million chips. Valentin Lita sat next with 905,000, followed by Arash Asadabadi on 851,000, Isaac Bolden on 731,000, and Kyle Kishonsh on 633,000.
PokerNews said the opener used seven starting flights, and all of the Day 1 bubbles burst before play moved on. That left the full Day 2 field paid, with 153 spots in the money.
The coverage of the event began on Day 2, which was August 9. The field is now just over 100 eliminations from a winner being crowned, since the event will play down to a champion.
The broader series is running at MGM National Harbor from August 5-17. In a press release, MGM Resorts said the Potomac Summer Poker Open is back in collaboration with BetMGM Poker and features 23 trophy events, including a $500,000 guaranteed Opener and a $750,000 Main Event.
The MGM National Harbor schedule lists the opener’s Day 2 restart for August 9 at 11 a.m.
