Merit Poker Noir Main Event Opens in Northern Cyprus

The $5,500 event starts with a $3 million guarantee, 100,000-chip stacks and four flights, with late registration open through Level 11.

The $5,500 Merit Poker Main Event got underway at noon at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa in Northern Cyprus. The tournament carries a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.

According to PokerNews, players start with 100,000 chips and have four starting flights to build a stack. Any player who bags chips on a starting day locks up a payday and a return for Day 2.

Late registration stays open until the start of Level 11 in each flight, and unlimited reentries are allowed throughout the event. The opening two flights use 40-minute levels.

Day 1c moves to a 30-minute structure, while Day 1d is set for later this evening with 20-minute levels. Each opening flight continues until only 15% of the field remains.

The last Merit Poker Main Event took place during the Merit Poker Classic series in May, when Ivan Ilichev won $525,000 and beat a final table that included Erdem Akmert, Davit Mikhanashvili, Guy Dvash, Maxime Chilaud and Nikolay Gadzhalov.

Once the field combines on Wednesday, August 5, levels increase to 60 minutes. A champion is scheduled to be crowned on August 6.
