H2 Sports Bar Poker Stages Hearing-Impaired Tournament in São Paulo
Poker Beyond Sound uses action cards, Libras support and personalized trophies.
According to iGaming Brazil and BNLData, H2 Sports Bar & Poker is staging “Poker Beyond Sound” in São Paulo on Saturday (29) for about 20 hearing-impaired players. The format replaces the usual reliance on dealer calls with sign-language tools, including physical action cards for fold, check, call, raise and all-in, and the venue has Libras, Brazil’s sign language, support available for communication.
Robinson “Robigol” Quiroga, the group’s head and a partner at H2, framed the event as a space where socializing and connection come first. He said the aim is to make people feel welcome, safe and happy, with communication not standing in the way of play. The reports describe the tournament as an inclusive competition built around the specific needs of the hearing-impaired community and meant to keep the action fair and fluid.
As covered earlier this week, H2 had already been active with a high-end poker event at São Paulo’s Jockey Club. This new tournament also follows last year’s adapted event for visually impaired players, which brought together more than 25 competitors and used adapted decks of cards and chips. The reporting says competitions aimed at specific groups are part of H2’s ongoing planning in Brazil, where the club has been building this approach over more than two decades.
