Lucas Jumalon Carries 194 Million-Chip Lead Into WSOP Final Table
Nine players return Monday at Horseshoe Las Vegas, with every seat locked for at least $1 million and ESPN set for three nights of coverage.
The WSOP Main Event final table resumes Monday at Horseshoe Las Vegas with Lucas Jumalon still in front. The nine remaining players are already guaranteed at least $1 million and are playing for the $10 million first prize.
According to the Review-Journal, the event began with 9,208 entries in the $10,000 no-limit hold’em world championship. The field is Jumalon, Rami Hammoud, Jamie Shaevel, Greg Mueller, Michael Gagliano, Mario Boos, Lauri Saaskilahti, Han Feng and Evagoras Evagorou, and none of them has won the title before.
Jumalon leads with 194 million chips. Hammoud is second with 79 million, Shaevel is third with 56 million, Mueller has 48.5 million, Gagliano has 46.5 million, Boos has 44 million, Saaskilahti has 37.5 million, Han has 25 million and Evagorou is shortest with 22.5 million.
PokerNews reported that Jumalon built the stack in a huge Day 8 surge. He began the day with 40.8 million, won a pot worth more than 50 million chips when his pocket jacks outdrew Malcolm Trayner’s pocket queens, reached 155 million by dinner, then finished with 194 million after eliminating Trayner in 10th place.
The most decorated players left are Mueller, who has three WSOP bracelets, and Gagliano, who has four. ESPN’s press room said the live final table runs Aug. 3-5, with Aug. 3 on ESPN2 from 9 p.m. to midnight ET, Aug. 4 on ESPN from 9 p.m. to midnight ET, and Aug. 5 on ESPN from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. ET. Sporting News said cord-cutters can stream it on fubo, and the table could take days to finish.
