888poker Sets XL Autumn Series With 41 Events
The festival leans on mystery bounties, with nearly $900,000 in guarantees and a $300,000 Main Event at the center of the schedule.
888poker has opened the curtain on its XL Autumn Series, a nine-day online festival running from Sept. 20 through Sept. 29 with 41 numbered events and nearly $900,000 in guarantees, according to PokerNews. The schedule leans hard into mystery bounties, with 26 of the 41 events using that format.
The headline package includes a pair of mystery bounty Main Events that account for $350,000 in guarantees. The $109 Mystery Opening Event carries a $100,000 guarantee and starts at 6:00 p.m. BST on Sept. 20. The same report noted that the tournament used to be 888poker’s weekly flagship event, before its guarantee was cut to $80,000 and later pushed back up for this series.
The two main championship events are split between a $250 Mystery Main Event with a $300,000 guarantee and a $25 Mystery Mini Main with a $50,000 guarantee. The larger event would need almost 1,300 entries to avoid overlay, while the smaller one would need just over 2,220 players to get there.
Both marquee events have dozens of Day 1 flights starting from Sept. 13. Last year’s results offer a size check on the format, with Romania’s amormori winning the $250 Mystery Main after 2,319 entries and brocanuts taking the $25 Mystery Mini Main after a field of 4,413 players.
888poker’s own promotions page frames the same series around the Mystery Bounty $300,000 XL Autumn Main Event and says the site will run a daily no-ticket freeroll that awards seats into the Main Event satellite. That page says satellites start from 1 cent, the freeroll is capped at 18,000 players, and the promotion remains valid through Sept. 29. It also says Day 1s run until Sept. 28.
