NHN Sets 2.2 Billion Won Record Prize Pool for Sixth Hangame Poker Tour
Online satellites are already running ahead of the Nov. 26-29 offline finale in Seoul.
NHN has set a 2.2 billion won total prize pool for the sixth Hangame Poker Tour, its largest yet. The hold’em festival is built around the Hangame Royal Hold’em mobile game, with 2 billion won allocated to the main event and 200 million won to the Super Stack side event.
The tournament combines online satellites in Hangame Royal Hold’em with an offline finale. According to The Elec, Bithumb is hosting the tour, and prize money will be paid in Korean won through Bithumb accounts, while SOOP is responsible for operations.
The satellite phase began Sept. 18 and runs through Nov. 25, a 69-day stretch with five tournaments each day. No separate application is required. Each satellite awards 29 offline-event tickets: one each to players finishing first through 20th, plus an additional ticket for each of the top nine finishers.
The offline tournament runs Nov. 26-29 at S-Factory, a cultural complex in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong area. NHN expanded the main event’s DAY1 from two days to three, saying the change, along with the expanded online satellites, was intended to create more opportunities to reach the live event.
Players need two tickets to enter DAY1 and can re-enter by submitting two more. Those who progress will play DAY2 on Nov. 29 for the 2 billion won main-event prize pool. Super Stack also takes place Nov. 29, carries its 200 million won prize pool and requires one ticket to enter.
