Two Weeks Till PokerStars USA SCOOP 2022

The Spring Championship of Online Poker kicks off across PokerStars' three US markets on March 25.

PokerStars USA’s Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) returns this year to an earlier time slot, with the action kicking off on March 25. That means SCOOP 2022 is just over two weeks away!

The action starts in late March (rather than the usual May slot) on PokerStars NJ, PokerStars PA, and PokerStars MI and will run until April 11.

The full schedule is still yet to be released but, if it is anything like last year, we can expect to see over $5 million in guaranteed prize money spread out across the three states.

Is GGPoker About To Launch in Canada?

In a game-changing move, GG would run the site under WSOP.ca and operate solely in the province of Ontario.

Thanks to the super sleuths over on pokerfuse we can reveal that GGPoker (well, it’s parent company NSUS) has applied for a license to launch in the province of Ontario — which will begin offering regulated online poker on April 4, 2022.

The sleuthing reveals that the domain GG has registered for operating under is none other than WSOP.ca.

This means that the WSOP is planning to launch regulated online poker in Ontario using GGPoker software rather than that of its long-term partner, 888.

Neither GG nor the WSOP have commented but you can read the full story over on pokerfuse.

Will 2022 Be the Year BetMGM Brings Online Poker to Nevada?

The jury is still out, but pokerfuse thinks that the operator is gearing up to launch in the Silver State.

Over on pokerfuse, the detective work continues as the team have found evidence that BetMGM is gearing up to launch an online poker room in the state of Nevada.

A job posting by BetMGM for a Senior Manager responsible for Poker Marketing located in Las Vegas, Nevada by BetMGM lists a “[t]horough understanding of and experience with online poker” — a pretty solid giveaway that it’s trying to build up its online poker presence in NV.

It is early days but, if BetMGM Poker NV does launch, it will be the second legal online poker room available to players in Nevada.

If the operator does launch, BetMGM will also be bringing with it a whole host of responsible gambling measures including, GameSense — its integrated platform that offers players tools and support to help them enjoy their gaming time responsibly.

GG Tidies Up Ambassador Roster, Says “Bye Bye, Bilzerian”

Global online poker operator GGPoker, axes playboy and poker enthusiast Dan Bilzerian as Brand Ambassador.

GGPoker has tidied up its ambassador roster, by canning Dan Bilzerian, just fifteen months since first signing him as a brand ambassador.

Bilzerian’s likeness was stripped from the online poker site on the same day as International Women’s Day — but didn’t comment on whether axing him on this particular day of all days was a symbolic move or not.

Ever since having been signed to global online poker giant GG, the poker community has been vocal in its disdain for the playboy, known for his misogynistic and womanizing ways — citing that he should never have been given a position as ambassador in the first place.

GGPoker has yet to make any sort of statement on his removal and the motivations behind it — whether he was failing to live up to his duties or if this was the operator finally taking into account the (un)popular opinions surrounding the controversial spokesman and no longer wanting the brand to be associated with such a contentious figure. As a result, the poker community (while happy to see him gone) remains unsure whether this move should be celebrated as GG “finally doing the right thing” or if his contract was simply up.
