Alex Foxen Leads Super High Roller Bowl XI Final Five After Petrangelo’s One-Outer
Kristen Foxen bubbled the $2.8 million event after Petrangelo’s lone remaining six reshaped the six-handed table.
Alex Foxen carried the chip lead into the five-handed finale of Super High Roller Bowl XI after a dramatic money-bubble swing in Las Vegas. Nick Petrangelo hit the only remaining six to crack Foxen’s pocket tens, then Kristen Foxen was eliminated in sixth place, leaving her just outside the five paid spots.
The $2.8 million event drew 28 entries and paid its final five players, with $1.125 million set aside for the winner. PokerNews listed the buy-in as $100,000, while SpadePoker described it as $103,000. As reported on Day 1, Foxen had already eliminated Sean Perry’s second entry while 12 players advanced to Day 2.
Foxen began Day 2 second in chips, took the lead in the opening level and stayed there through the bagging period. His set of queens also eliminated Jason Koon, whose pocket aces were ahead before Foxen flopped the set.
The pivotal bubble hand came with six players left. Petrangelo four-bet shoved pocket sixes against Foxen’s pocket tens, but one six had already been folded, leaving Petrangelo with a single immediate out. The board ran A♠ 9♠ 9♦ 6♦ 7♠, giving Petrangelo sixes full and allowing him to survive while cutting into Foxen’s once-runaway lead.
Kristen Foxen was the short stack at that point and appeared positioned to cash after the all-in confrontation. Instead, Brandon Wilson eliminated her when his 9♠9♦ held against her A♣8♣ on a T♣ 9♥ 5♠ 7♦ A♠ board. The result secured at least $215,000 for each of the five survivors.
Foxen ended Day 2 with 2.87 million chips, ahead of Petrangelo on 1.68 million. Adrian Mateos bagged 1.51 million, Wilson had 1.27 million and Jeremy Ausmus held 1.07 million.
The remaining payouts were $700,000 for second, $450,000 for third, $310,000 for fourth and $215,000 for fifth. Foxen was pursuing his 14th PokerGO Tour title, while Petrangelo entered the final day after recently winning $2.2 million in Triton Jeju’s $150,000 10th Anniversary Special.
