GTO Wizard Expands Its PLO Solver With Heads-Up Tools
The update adds nodelocking, player profiles, postflop ICM and faster river solves, while 5-card PLO remains on the roadmap.
GTO Wizard rolled out a broad set of Pot-Limit Omaha upgrades over the past two months, with heads-up PLO now live and fully customizable from preflop to the river. The package adds nodelocking, persistent player profiles, postflop ICM for tournament spots, faster river solves, and a bigger tree size for deeper-stacked spots.
The new heads-up tools are meant to make study more exploit-focused. Users can lock in an opponent’s mistakes at a single node, then build player profiles.
The company lists eight default profiles, including a GTO-savvy opponent, fish, calling stations, maniacs, TAG regs, LAG regs, nits, and a Glass Cannon. The Glass Cannon is someone who attacks aggressively but defends cautiously.
The profile system is trainable as a custom solution, while a nodelock only defines behavior in one spot. That distinction matters in the new PLO tools, because profiles are applied across the entire tree and can be used in the Trainer to play full hands against a chosen opponent type.
Postflop ICM is now built into custom PLO solving for regular and bounty tournaments. To use it, players customize an MTT tree and set the equity model to ICM.
Speed got a bump too. PLO river spots now solve about twice as fast while keeping the same 0.1% pot exploitability, and the maximum tree size was increased to handle deeper-stacked solves. The same technical work also carried over to Hold’em, where NLHE spots now solve about 3x to 6x faster without losing accuracy.
PokerNews framed the update against how hard PLO is to study, pointing out that four-hole-card poker has around 270,000 starting hand combinations compared with 1,326 in two-card poker. Its first look at the solver said the launch version already covered every flop, turn, and river with no missing runouts or gaps in the tree, and that custom solving could build scenarios in seconds.
The roadmap is still active. 5-card PLO research is underway, while PokerNews said mobile support and some advanced reporting and tracking features were not yet available at launch. Aggregated reports and an ever-expanding preflop library are also in the works.
