Niklas Astedt Reaches the Sunday Million Final Day
The PokerStars anniversary PKO was down to 49 players, with Astedt sixth in chips and the top bounty at $8,400.
Niklas ‘Lena900’ Astedt reached the final day of PokerStars’ Sunday Million 20th Anniversary event, sitting sixth in chips with 19.6 million when 49 players remained. The leader going into the last session was ‘RageReaperf’, who bagged 28.3 million, while the biggest bounty so far belonged to the Ukrainian player ‘234241234214432’ at $8,400.
As covered in July, PokerStars built the anniversary around a $5 million guarantee, a $109 buy-in and a phased progressive-knockout format. Players could keep taking Phase 1 shots through September 6, and the low-cost qualifying path included satellites from $0.55 plus Spin & Go entries at $0.75 and $4.
The knockout structure pays 50% of every bounty immediately to the player who scores the elimination, with the other half added to that player’s own bounty. With 49 players left, the next player out locked up $924, and the regular prize pool paid $176,000 to first and second before any bounties were added.
PokerNews noted that the field had reached 55,444 entries and pointed out that Astedt had been here before, finishing 23rd in the 16th Anniversary Edition from a 52,119-player field four years ago. It also said the top stack leader, RageReaperf, had won a maiden SCOOP title last year for $12,849.
