WSOP Online Starts on GGPoker With 33 Bracelets

The six-week series runs through Sept. 29 and tops its schedule with a $25 million guaranteed Main Event on Sept. 21.

WSOP Online started on GGPoker on Aug. 16, opening a six-week run that runs through Sept. 29 and offers 33 official bracelet events, more than $350 million in prize money and $5 million in promotions. The headline act is a $5,000 Main Event with a $25 million guarantee on Sept. 21, and it is set to crown one ultimate online poker champion for the year.

As covered earlier this month, GGPoker had already laid out the 33-bracelet international schedule. The reporting differs slightly on the end date, with Pokerfuse and PokerNews placing the festival at Sept. 29, while PokerStrategy describes the bracelet run as ending Sept. 28. PokerStrategy also said the site will run more than 50 events a day, with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $10,000.

The side promotions are a big part of the package. GGPoker is putting $3 million into Continental Flipouts, which split players into four regions, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, and can trigger freeroll prize pools of up to $250,000 for players from the same region as each bracelet winner. It is also awarding a $30,000 Super Pass to each of the 33 bracelet winners through a $1 million Super Pass Bonus, with that package sending them toward the $25,000 Super Main Event at WSOP Paradise in December.

A separate $1 million Ranking Freeroll is tied to the final Bracelet Leaderboard. Pokerfuse said fans can watch selected events live on GGPoker.tv with Jeff Gross and Phil Hellmuth on commentary, including the WSOP Online Main Event and the GGMillion$ High Roller. For context, PokerNews said last year’s $5,000 Main Event drew 5,961 players, paid $28,314,750 and was won by Benjamin “bencb789” Rolle, while Rodrigo Selouan remains the reigning GGMillion$ High Rollers champion. The country-exclusive freerolls for the top 10 nations are set for Oct. 3.
