SHRPO Championship Clears $3 Million on Day 1B
The $5,300 event moved past the guarantee at 299 entries on the flight, with later updates pushing the field higher still.
The $5,300 SHRPO Championship cleared its $3 million guarantee during Day 1B, when the field reached 299 entries on the flight and 619 overall.
The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open site’s event schedule PDF listed the championship as Event 43, with play set for August 7-11. Day 1A was Friday, Aug. 7, Day 1B was Saturday, Aug. 8, and Day 2 was Sunday, Aug. 9.
Day 1B was the second and final flight, and it started at 11 am with players beginning on 50,000 chips. Levels were 60 minutes long until 24 players remained, then stretched to 90 minutes.
An early Day 1B update showed 63 entries when Flight B got underway. Another page showed play resuming after a 90-minute dinner break at the start of Level 7, with blinds at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante.
At that point, the site said Day 1B had 294 entries and needed five more to make the mark. The live coverage later put Day 1B at 299 entries and the overall field at 619, officially pushing the prize pool past the guarantee.
The same live coverage said registration stayed open until the start of Level 9 at 9:15 pm, with one entry and one re-entry allowed per starting flight. It also said action was scheduled to continue until the end of Level 10, around 11:15 pm.
Later site updates showed the field continuing to grow, with Day 1B listed at 335 entries, then 338, and finally 353 at registration close. Those updates put the overall field at 655, 658 and an estimated 673, with the prize pool projected at more than $3.25 million.
A break-time leaderboard also showed five players over 290,000 chips. Artem Metalidi led with 412,500, followed by Jeff Trudeau on 326,500, Anthony Bertuccio on 310,000, Colin Robinson on 301,500 and David Jackson on 291,000.
