APT Jeju High Roller Becomes Richest APT Edition With 295 Entries

The reported $958,000 prize pool makes Jeju’s latest High Roller the richest APT edition, with further record fields elsewhere on the schedule.

The APT Jeju High Roller drew 295 entries and built a prize pool of about $958,000, making it the richest edition of the tournament in Asian Poker Tour history, according to Poker.org. The winner was set to receive about $190,000 and the rose-gold Mega Lion trophy as the field played down to its final few players.

That projected first prize was still below the roughly $196,000 Eric Tsai won in the 2024 Jeju High Roller. The tournament was part of the APT’s 20th-anniversary season.

The 295 figure covers the tournament field, while APT’s official High Roller Day 1 page records 191 entries, 43 survivors and a KRW 825 million prize pool for the event’s Sept. 30 opening day. It also lists a KRW 5 million buy-in and says players contributed 4% of the prize pool toward staffing. The page names Joseph Sanghyon Cheong first, Kunal Patni second and Ka Chun Tsui third in its Day 1 standings.

The High Roller was the third Jeju event of the series to establish a record. The Superstar Challenge attracted 51 entries for a prize pool of about $1.25 million, its largest field and richest edition, while the $2.2K 9-Game High Roller drew 119 entries from 84 unique players and generated about $595,000, setting APT country records for all three measures.

As we reported when APT Jeju opened, the festival is the fourth stop of the tour’s 20th-anniversary season and runs through Oct. 7. More than two dozen tournaments remained after the High Roller report, including three starting flights in the $550 Micro Main Event and the $3K High Roller Ultra Stack, both beginning Monday.

The season-ending APT Championship is scheduled in Taipei from Nov. 13 through Nov. 29, led by a $10,000 freezeout Main Event with a $5 million guarantee and more than 200 other tournaments.
