Mayukh Chakraborty won the WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec, on Sept. 10, taking CA$1.5 million and his first WSOP Circuit ring after a six-day No-Limit Hold’em run that began with three Day One flights. He outlasted 2,844 entries in the CA$5,000 event to close out the first Canadian Super Circuit stop.

WSOP’s recap said the Main Event prize pool was CA$12,689,928, while PokerNews had earlier reported CA$13,082,400 from the same 2,844-entry field. The event ran through Sept. 10, and the winner’s share was worth CA$1.5 million after the field got down to the business end at Playground.

Benjamin Veenstra finished second for CA$1 million, Jack Salter took third for CA$750,000, and Chance Kornuth finished fourth for CA$600,000. The final table also included other notable names from the same deep run, and Chakraborty beat Veenstra heads-up to seal the title.

Spadepoker reported that organizers changed the payout structure after the bubble burst, reducing the winner’s share from an earlier CA$2 million figure to CA$1.5 million and trimming the final-table allocation from 47% to 42.5%, with the savings pushed down to lower finishing spots. That change came during the event itself, after players were already in the money.

As reported in our Sept. 9 update, Paul Klann led the final 30 into Day 5 before Chakraborty closed it out. The Main Event was the biggest poker tournament in Canadian history, and the wider WSOP Super Circuit Canada stop also set records for overall prize-pool guarantees and for the largest total entry for a tournament in Playground history. The CA$500 Mini Main Event drew 3,484 entrants, and the momentum from Canada has already led WSOP to add WSOP Super Circuit KINGS in Rozvadov from Oct. 28 to Nov. 11 and WSOP Super Circuit LATAM in Punta Cana from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2, 2027.
