Alex Anton Wins Triton Jeju Turbo for $577,000
The WSOP bracelet winner claimed his first Triton title in a 70-entry $30,000 event and beat Artur Martirosian heads-up.
Alex Anton won Triton Jeju Event #9, the $30,000 no-limit hold’em turbo, for $577,000 after outlasting a 70-entry field and beating Artur Martirosian heads-up.
According to PokerNews, Anton had already cashed in Event #5 and finished third in Event #7 earlier in the week. The same report said the win came on top of the WSOP bracelet he picked up three months earlier.
The tournament built a $2.1 million prize pool, and only the top 11 finishers got paid. The min-cash was $52,000, while the final table lock-up came when Chen Mingcong was eliminated in ninth for $60,000.
Winfred Yu was the first casualty after the final table was set. Mikita Badziakouski earned $101,000, Byron Kaverman took $128,000, and Adrian Mateos banked $164,000 after Martirosian spiked a pair of nines on the turn.
Stephen Chidwick started the final table in the chip lead, with Anton in third. Chidwick eventually finished fourth for $207,000 when Anton’s J♠4♣ held against 10♦6♣, and Anton then helped put Alisson Piekazewicz on fumes before Piekazewicz exited in third for $269,000.
Heads-up began with Martirosian holding a 4:3 edge, but Anton later took control and entered the last stretch with a 7.8 million to 6.2 million lead, according to PokerNews. Martirosian briefly doubled with ace-jack through eight-four, then Anton closed out the title with K♥6♠ holding against 5♥3♥.
Card Player described the turbo format as speedy and said it “lessened the gravitas” of proceedings. Anton told Triton staff, “It was really silly,” and added, “It was fun, but we were just flipping for a lot of money.” The victory also earned him 588 Card Player Player of the Year points, his third title and seventh final-table finish of 2026, and pushed his career haul above $3 million. Card Player also said his only bigger score came from a $678,300 cash in Las Vegas this summer, while the updated standings put him 21st overall with 4,570 points.
