Daniel Dvoress Wins Seventh Triton Title in Jeju
He beat Xuan Liu again for $942,000 after running the final table from the chip lead.
Daniel Dvoress won his seventh Triton title in Jeju by taking the $30,000 no-limit hold’em eight-handed event for $942,000. He outlasted 135 entries, and the victory came with the trophy from a $4.05 million prize pool that paid the top 23 finishers.
As reported in our Sept. 9 final-table update, Dvoress went into the last day with the chip lead and still had the edge when the tournament reached its eight-handed final table. TightPoker said he had 68 big blinds with eight players left, compared with 42 for Lun Loon, before Ben Tollerene finished eighth for $118,000, Lun Loon was seventh for $160,000 and Jingyao Yan went out sixth for $217,000.
The heads-up match against Xuan Liu was a rematch of their Montenegro meeting last spring, when Liu beat Dvoress for $860,000. CardPlayer noted that this was their second heads-up meeting for a Triton title, while Triton later said an earlier story that framed the matchup as the first repeat heads-up title pairing in tour history was wrong and pointed to prior rematches, including Danny Tang against Mikita Badziakouski and Jason Koon against Dvoress. In the last hand, Dvoress shoved 3♠3♣ against Liu’s K♥Q♠ and made a wheel on the J♥4♦2♣A♠5♥ board.
Dvoress said the first live poker he played since Montenegro made him wonder whether he could keep the momentum going, and he spent the break playing tennis, hiking and gardening. The result left him with seven Triton titles from 11 final-table finishes in 2026, after a three-title run in Montenegro in May that produced more than $3.2 million, and Poker.org said it lifted him to 3,371 points in the Ivan Leow Player of the Year race, ahead of Isaac Haxton on 2,517.
