CoinPoker’s the One Tops 10,000 Entries Before Day 2

More than 1,000 players have advanced, led by pitotieso333 with a 172-big-blind stack.

CoinPoker’s The One has passed 10,000 initial entries ahead of its Day 2 on Oct. 12, with more than 1,000 players already through to the next stage. The $250 tournament carries a $5 million guaranteed prize pool and a guaranteed $1 million first prize, the largest tournament guarantee and guaranteed winner’s payout in the site’s history.

As we reported Oct. 5, the first three opening flights had already put The One well ahead of the pace required to cover its $5 million guarantee. CardPlayer reported that “pitotieso333” takes the chip lead into Day 2 with 6.03 million chips, or 172 big blinds.

The average remaining stack is 1.26 million chips, equivalent to 36 big blinds. Rayan “Beriuzy” Chamas has 112 big blinds, while Patrick Leonard and Tom Talboom return with 59 and 54 big blinds, respectively. Barbara Akemi has 19 big blinds and Alejandro “Papo MC” Lococo has 14.

The tournament began Oct. 4 and has 26 Day 1 flights in total. Two final turbo flights run on Oct. 12 at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. UTC before Day 2 begins later that afternoon. Players who qualify more than once carry forward only their largest stack, while qualifying flights use CoinPoker’s buy-in refund mechanic.

Satellites and freerolls have provided lower-cost routes into the event. “fishbrosTV” and “Tiniesta1994” each turned a $1 satellite entry into a Day 2 stack of more than 2 million chips. CoinPoker’s satellite tree includes freerolls and low-stakes steps, and the operator also gave away 100 weekend mega-satellite tickets through Twitter.

The eventual winner will receive a custom physical trophy as well as a digital trophy for their CoinPoker profile. After The One concludes, CoinPoker’s schedule calls for the $215 CoinMillion to return Nov. 1 with a $1 million guarantee.
