Klemens Roiter finally got his first Triton title in Jeju, winning Event #2, the $20,000 NLH 8-Handed at Triton Jeju II, for $771,000. He beat Alejandro Lococo heads-up in South Korea after a 174-entry field built a $3.48 million prize pool.

PokerNews said 25 players returned for the last day after the bubble burst late on Day 1, and Roiter started with 17 big blinds before slipping to seven at one point. As reported when the event went into its last day, Chin Wei Lim led the 25-player return, while Roiter was still in the mix.

Roiter was not the stack leader when nine players were left, either. Yu Zhang and Webster Lim held the biggest stacks at that point, and Jesse Lonis, the defending Card Player Player of the Year and a four-time Triton champion, was also in contention before going out eighth. Lococo then ran through the table, adding knockouts on the way to heads-up, including Justin Chu in fifth. After a three-way all-in with Mehdi Chaoui and Justin Saliba, he hit a club flush on the river to complete a double elimination, sending Chaoui out in fourth and Saliba out in third and taking a 2.5:1 chip lead into heads-up.

Roiter answered back quickly. He doubled with 7♦2♣ when a rivered full house came in on 10♣7♥5♦7♠5♥, which left Lococo with almost no chips. On the last hand, Roiter’s 10♥8♥ paired eights to beat Lococo’s A♠9♦ and finish the comeback.

Reports varied slightly on how many Triton final tables Roiter had reached before this result. He had 12 final tables and 17 cashes before Sunday, Card Player called this his 13th career Triton final table, and PokerNews said he had reached 11 final tables without managing to close one out. Roiter said he was still shaking and could not be more proud. The win pushed him past $15.7 million in career tournament earnings, with more than $9.1 million of that coming in Triton events, and earned him 936 Card Player Player of the Year points, moving him into eighth place in the CoinPoker race.
