WPT Global Opens $1.10 Route to Cyprus Seats
Weekly $108 qualifiers carry $2,000 packages and $100,000 Golden Tickets, with reports split on the schedule.
WPT Global has opened a cheap online path into the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, with daily $1.10 and $11 feeders rolling into weekly $108 satellites that award $2,000 packages. The live event is set for Cyprus in October and carries a $1 million guarantee.
As covered in our Aug. 3 report on WPT Global’s $4.40 route to IPO Dublin seats, the site has been leaning on low-cost feeder ladders to send players into live tournaments. The Cyprus offer follows that same model, but the reporting is not fully aligned on the calendar.
Pokerfuse said the Cyprus satellites launched on June 28 and would run through Aug. 9. Its version of the promotion used a three-step ladder, starting with $1.10 feeders, then $11 satellites, then the $108 Sunday qualifier, while Rakerace put the qualifier at 18:06 UTC. That report also said players could enter from eligible jurisdictions, and that the package included the championship seat, hotel, food and beverage, transportation, and a $100,000 bonus if a satellite winner later won the full tournament.
A later PokerListings report said the room was giving away packages every Sunday from Aug. 10 to Sept. 28, with $108 satellites starting at 18:05 UTC and weekly feeders at $1.10 and $11. It added that every qualifier also gets a $100,000 Golden Ticket, and that the ticket can only be used for the $1,100 WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, cannot be transferred or cashed out, and is forfeited if unused at the end of the series.
PokerNews described the weekly event similarly, saying it runs each Sunday at 6:05 p.m. UTC and guarantees two $2,000 packages. It also said every package winner receives a $100,000 Golden Ticket, and that WPT Global will pay another $100,000 bonus if a player who already secured that ticket goes on to win the $1,100 championship outright.
The Cyprus push also comes with some live-event background. PokerNews said the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship had originally been planned for March, but WPT pulled it because of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Chamada then ran its own $1,100 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed tournament, which Frank Koopmann won from a 1,114-entry field for $178,580 out of a $1,080,580 prize pool.
PokerNews also said WPT Global arranged special hotel rates for October players, including all-inclusive rooms at the Chamada Prestige Hotel for $250 per night for one person or $300 for two, plus Chamada Girne rooms for $150 or $200 a night with shuttle service to the Prestige Hotel. It also noted a $10 minimum deposit promotion that unlocks a $15.50 welcome gift package and a 100% cashback offer up to $3,000 over 60 days.
