Will Kassouf Lands €50,000 Treasure Hunt Prize in Venice
A top-five stack in the Last Chance flight gave Kassouf a draw ticket worth nearly as much as third place in the Main Event.
- Will Kassouf won the €50,000 top Caccia al Tesoro prize despite missing the Main Event final day.
- His 2.9 million-chip Last Chance stack ranked fourth and earned him a Treasure Hunt ticket.
- The €200,000 promotion used 50 tickets awarded to top-five Day 1 stacks.
- Kassouf’s bonus was slightly below the €56,600 third-place Main Event payout.
Will Kassouf collected the €50,000 top prize in La Notte Degli Assi’ Caccia al Tesoro, or Treasure Hunt, despite failing to reach the Main Event’s final day. The bonus was only €6,600 short of the €56,600 paid to the tournament’s third-place finisher.
The €1 million-guaranteed Main Event at Casino di Venezia in Venice drew 2,630 entries across 10 starting flights. Kassouf qualified for the Treasure Hunt in the Last Chance flight, turning a 200,000-chip starting stack into 2.9 million chips, good for fourth on that flight’s leaderboard.
PokerNews reported that Kassouf was one of the top five finishers in chips from a Day 1 flight to receive a draw ticket. His ticket produced the sole €50,000 top award when the Treasure Hunt draw was held on Oct. 18, before Day 2.
The side promotion had a €200,000 prize pool that was included within the Main Event guarantee. It reserved 50 tickets for the random draw, while the top five stacks in each of the 10 Day 1 flights received Treasure Hunt tickets, with prizes ranging from €900 to €50,000. Players could enter every flight, even after qualifying for Day 2, and could theoretically collect as many as 10 tickets, although only their largest stack carried forward.
Every player who bagged chips from a Day 1 flight received at least €900. Other Treasure Hunt prizes for Day 1 chip leaders included €30,000, €20,000 and €15,000.
La Notte Degli Assi ran from Oct. 11-19 at the Casino di Venezia, described as the world’s oldest casino. Lorenzo Sabato won the Main Event for €114,500 after a heads-up deal.
