PokerStars Spin & Go Turns $5 Into $1 Million
The rare 240,000x hit created a $1.2 million prize pool, and PokerStars is also lining up the format’s first live world championship in Prague.
A $5 PokerStars Spin & Go in PokerNews’ report hit the ultra-rare 240,000x multiplier, creating a $1.2 million prize pool and turning Denmark’s dillerfar19 into a $1 million winner. The three players were dillerfar19, Belarus’s KuCoH and Brazil’s malakaio300, with payouts set at $80,000 for third, $120,000 for second and $1 million for first.
Spin & Go is a three-handed hyper-turbo format where the prize pool is picked before the first hand. Most $5 entries land in 2x or 3x prize pools, more than 87% of the time, while 2x to 5x is winner-takes-all, 10x pays the top two finishers, and 25x or more pays all three. The stated chance of the 240,000x hit was 0.10 in a million, and traditional Spin & Gos run at buy-ins of $0.50, $1, $2, $5, $10 and $25.
KuCoH was the first player eliminated. After malakaio300 moved all-in with jack-deuce, KuCoH called with king-seven, a deuce landed on the board, and the elimination locked in $120,000 for the two survivors. malakaio300 then carried a 2:1 chip lead into heads-up play.
The lead flipped when malakaio300 shoved pocket fives and dillerfar19 called with king-queen, then improved to trip kings. The chip lead changed hands again before dillerfar19 edged in front once more heading to the final hand.
In the last pot, malakaio300 moved all-in on the button with king-eight and dillerfar19 called with pocket sevens. A seven-high flop gave dillerfar19 a set, a jack on the turn left malakaio300 drawing dead, and another seven on the river made quads and sealed the $1 million top prize.
In a separate PokerListings report, Belarus-based Zherminal also turned a $5 Spin & Go into a $1 million score against derom01 and mari_farah15, with $120,000 for second and $80,000 for third. Zherminal became the 45th Spin & Go millionaire, and PokerStars is now planning to bring the format to live play at the first Spin & Go World Championship at EPT Prague from December 4 to December 15, with mystery prizes added back in and player feedback set to shape future versions and possible expansion to other EPT stops.
