Carlos Chadha Bags Massive Lead in Borgata Championship
The final seven players locked up $34,620 each after Chadha finished Day 3 with 9.52 million chips.
Carlos Chadha ended Day 3 of the 2026 Borgata Summer Poker Open $2,700 Championship with a huge cushion, bagging 9,520,000 chips in Atlantic City and putting himself far ahead of the final seven. The clock had already slipped past 2 a.m. local time when play stopped, and Chadha was nearly three times the size of his closest challenger.
PokerNews said Chadha’s surge came from a key stretch against Nicholas Verderamo. In one bluff, Chadha fired 2,400,000 on the river with just a pair of threes and got Verderamo to fold top pair, aces. Soon after, Chadha made the nut flush on the river to beat Bin Weng’s set of fours, and Weng went out in 11th place.
Chadha also arrived with a bit of recent big-stage momentum. A few weeks earlier, he had made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 51st.
Maxwell Young sits second with 3,450,000 on the final-day lineup. Michael Renna has 2,795,000 for third, Nicholas Verderamo has 2,630,000, James Tedrow has 1,955,000, Russ Dunlevy has 1,055,000 and Andrew Porter has 1,030,000.
He nearly lost his seat when he ran into Verderamo’s jacks, but the flop gave him a set and kept him alive. He then doubled up multiple times during the last level and went from an extreme short stack to third on the leaderboard.
Tedrow is the last remaining BetMGM qualifier left in the field, while Porter is a WSOP bracelet winner. The final seven have already locked up $34,620 each, with the champion set to take $242,385 plus the Borgata and BetMGM trophies.
The event drew 565 entries and built a $1,356,000 prize pool that paid the top 71 finishers. Day 3 began with 24 players left, after 551 entries across the three starting flights and 14 late registrants pushed the total field to 565.
Day 2 had ended with Ricky Guan in the lead on 2,145,000, just ahead of Verderamo on 2,035,000, with Concetta Rinaldi and Bin Weng close behind.
