Shahab Shirazi Leads Monumental Stack Into Day 2 at MGM National Harbor
The $500 Potomac Summer Poker Open event drew 403 entries and returns 52 players in the money with longer levels and a packed chip race ahead.
Shahab Shirazi took the lead into the final day of the Potomac Summer Poker Open $500 Monumental Stack at MGM National Harbor with 2,200,000 chips. He is the only player to clear the 2,000,000-chip mark, and Matthew Faust is next closest with 1,840,000.
Jong Han sits third with 1,740,000, followed by Edward Tufarelli on 1,485,000 and Rick Aasen on 1,465,000. Kyle Dishongh is also well placed with 1,430,000, while Timothy Conrow, Andrew Touchette, Matt Mullins, Linda Swears, Dennis Backhaus and Kash Corpening are all still alive with playable stacks.
The Monumental Stack sits on the Potomac Summer Poker Open schedule at MGM National Harbor. The $500 event got to this point through two starting flights that built the field to 403 total entries.
That left 52 players returning in the money for Day 2. Day 1b drew 225 entries on its own and sent 29 players on, with Aasen among those to survive. He had already won the $400 T.O.R.S.E. event a few days earlier, adding another reason for his stack to stand out near the top of the counts.
Day 2 starts at 11 a.m. local time with about 25 minutes left in Level 23. The restart picks up at blinds of 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante, and the levels stretch to 40 minutes as the tournament plays down to a winner.
