Tim Pool Returns for Potomac Main Event Day 1b
After a Day 1a river card sent him out, he came back for the second flight and finished with 210,000 chips.
Tim Pool was back in the 2026 Potomac Summer Poker Open $3,000 Main Event for Day 1b, and he finished the second starting flight with 210,000 chips. The turnaround came in the event’s $750,000-guarantee setup at MGM National Harbor, where the two starting flights feed into Day 2.
As covered yesterday, Pool was eliminated from Day 1a after flopping two pair against Nicholas Verderamo’s kings and then watching a king fall on the river. That bustout sent him out of the opening flight quickly, but he was right back in the mix for the second flight.
According to PokerNews, Day 1b drew 180 players in the MGM National Harbor poker room. That lifted the combined field to 280 total entries through the two starting flights, and 58 players advanced to Day 2.
Waleed Mian finished Day 1b with 1,185,000 chips, the only stack to clear the million-chip mark. The event began with 60,000-chip starting stacks, 45-minute levels on Day 1, and 60-minute levels beginning on Day 2, with late registration open until the start of Level 13. The champion is set to be crowned at the final table on Aug. 17.
