CoinPoker Launches $50 Million Global Online Poker Championship
The six-week online series adds regional schedules, three buy-in tiers and team medals across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
CoinPoker has launched the Global Online Poker Championship, a six-week online festival with $50 million guaranteed that runs from Aug. 23 through Sept. 28. The event is built around three schedules, three buy-in tiers, and team medals for players across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
The regional setup is meant to let players compete during local peak hours. Each schedule is time-zone specific, so the same festival can run at more convenient times for different parts of the world.
Players will also compete behind GOPC Teams and chase Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. That gives the series a regional team layer on top of the usual online tournament grind.
PokerStrategy reported that the complete tournament schedule has not yet been released, although the first confirmed details are already out. It said the early information points to CoinPoker’s most ambitious global series yet.
The CoinPoker tournament page says more details and the full schedule are still to come. CoinPoker also offers direct satellites every day with buy-ins from $5.50 to $44, plus Step 3 and Step 4 freerolls that can feed into those satellite tickets.
CoinPoker also said its Sunday CoinMillion will become a permanent monthly event beginning on Aug. 9. That $215 no-limit hold’em tournament will carry a $1 million guarantee on the first Sunday of every month.
