GTO Wizard Launches Preflop ICM Solver for Tournament Study
Ultra subscribers can build tournament spots with custom stacks, bounties and payouts, with most solves taking about one second.
GTO Wizard has launched Preflop ICM Solving, a tournament-study tool that lets Ultra subscribers build and solve customized preflop spots without needing powerful local hardware. Players can set stacks, antes, bounties and payout structures, then rebuild bubbles, final tables, satellites or other tournament hands using either chip EV or ICM strategy.
The feature is designed to return most solutions in about one second, including on a phone. PokerNews reported that GTO Wizard’s earlier workflow could take about 30 minutes to solve a preflop ICM spot after variables changed, with an altered stack size potentially adding another half-hour.
As we reported in August, GTO Wizard had already added three-way postflop ICM and bounty solving.
Preflop ICM Solving supports up to nine players, stack depths of 250 big blinds and tournament fields as large as 4,096 runners. Users can adjust raise sizes, nodelock strategies and carry a solved setup into postflop analysis, where GTO Wizard AI retains the preflop ranges, stacks and payouts used in the solve.
Hand-history integration can populate stacks, antes and bounties automatically before the user runs the solve. The tool covers standard MTTs and satellites, plus knockout, progressive knockout and total knockout formats. Mystery bounties can also be modeled, while payout structures are fully customizable.
There is a current multiway limit: preflop trees allow no more than three players to reach the flop. A fourth player over-calling or over-limping is not yet supported, although GTO Wizard plans to add those spots next.
The release also extends GTO Wizard’s Fair Play Check to preflop ICM solves. Entering a date and time can show preflop ICM spots solved within five minutes on either side, including the spot ID, exact time, player stacks and tournament setup. The company said it has worked directly with GGPoker, WPN and iPoker on Fair Play Check coverage.
ICM differs from chip EV because it uses players’ stacks to estimate their likelihood of finishing in each paid position.
Custom ICM solving requires Ultra on the Tournament plan, although anyone can try preflop solving with ICM and rake up to 10bb effective for free. Early-bird Ultra pricing runs until 1 p.m. CEST on Oct. 15: $279 monthly rather than $359, or $229 per month on an annual plan rather than $289. Locking in the annual option before the deadline saves at least $720 over 12 months.
