Pierre Chevalier Wins Record-Setting WSOP Circuit Paris Main Event
Chevalier earned €260,000 and his first Circuit ring after the €1,500 event drew 1,282 entries.
Pierre Chevalier won the €1,500 WSOP Circuit Paris Main Event at Partouche Pasino Club, collecting €260,000 after a field of 1,282 entries. The turnout was described as the largest ever for a WSOP Circuit Main Event staged in Europe, and the event generated a prize pool of about €1.66 million.
Hervé Gouzil finished runner-up for €175,000, while Luca Bernardi took third for €123,000. Chevalier won his first WSOP Circuit ring and also received a $5,000 WSOP Paradise package.
The 1,282-entry total confirmed the field figure reported here on Sept. 13, when 193 players had reached the money.
PokerNews reported that Chevalier normally plays poker only “once or twice a year” and intends to “almost stop playing poker” after the victory. He said he had been aggressive when he held chips but patient when short, and pointed to a call against Natasha Mercier as a turning point that helped him climb from four million to 20 million chips.
The Main Event ran during the Sept. 1-14 WSOP Circuit Paris festival, organized with Texapoker at the Partouche Pasino Club near the Arc de Triomphe. The club, which opened in May, hosted the Circuit’s return to Paris two years after its first edition at Stade Jean-Bouin.
The wider series produced other large fields. Emmanuel Barre won the €500 Mini Main Event for €76,000 from 1,118 entries, while Omar Lakhdari completed a double by winning the Mystery Bounty and the €2,500 High Roller, the latter worth €110,000.
Sources differ on the Main Event prize pool by €60: PokerNews listed €1,661,472, while PMU Poker’s results page listed €1,661,412. Both listed 1,282 entries.
