GBortoleto Wins $121,753 CoinMillion After Calling Final River Shove
A 5,181-entry GOPC field produced another $1 million-plus prize pool as a flush-over-straight showdown settled the title.
GBortoleto won CoinPoker’s Sept. 21 CoinMillion for $121,753, topping a 5,181-entry, $215 event during the final week of the Global Online Poker Championship. The tournament created a prize pool of about $1.03 million, making it the second GOPC CoinMillion to clear its $1 million guarantee.
The win followed a fourth-place Day 2 start for GBortoleto and added to a CoinMasters FLOKI title the player won in July. BustinDaNut69, who began Day 2 22nd in chips before reaching the final table as chip leader, finished second for $76,989, while Pipsis took $55,436 in third after qualifying through a $25 satellite.
As we reported Sept. 13, the previous CoinMillion drew a record 5,321 entries, so the Sept. 21 field fell short of that mark but still extended the run of million-dollar prize pools. CoinPoker recorded platform traffic above 30,000 players during the session.
CardPlayer’s breakdown of the closing action shows GBortoleto taking control with four players left. GBortoleto and BustinDaNut69 each had a little more than 60 big blinds, while Fuasyt and Pipsis were both short-stacked. Fuasyt moved all in for 33.9 million from under the gun at 1.75 million/3.5 million blinds with a 525,000 ante, and GBortoleto called from the big blind.
GBortoleto’s ace-eight trailed Fuasyt’s ace-nine on a 10♠-7♦-4♠ flop, but the 8♠ turn paired GBortoleto and gave the hand a flush draw. The 2♣ river held, eliminating Fuasyt and moving GBortoleto to 250 million chips.
After Fuasyt’s exit, GBortoleto and BustinDaNut69 each held 69 big blinds while Pipsis had seven. BustinDaNut69 had repeatedly proposed a deal from five-handed play onward, and GBortoleto replied that they could discuss it heads-up. PokerListings said a deal ultimately paid BustinDaNut69 $102,248 and GBortoleto $96,494, figures that differ from the published winner and runner-up payouts.
The heads-up match ended in a large river call. At 2 million/4 million with a 600,000 ante, GBortoleto opened to 12 million and called BustinDaNut69’s raise to 43.72 million on a 10♠-9♠-7♣ flop. After calling a 37.17 million bet on the 9♦ turn, GBortoleto faced a 135.4 million river shove when the 6♠ completed the board.
GBortoleto called with Q♠J♠ for a flush, beating BustinDaNut69’s 8♥6♥ straight to end the tournament. The final $1 million-guaranteed GOPC CoinMillion runs Sept. 27, with direct satellites starting at $12.50.
