Day 1b Begins With 52 Runners in Potomac Main Event
The final starting flight at MGM National Harbor is chasing the $750,000 guarantee after Day 1a sent 20 players through.
The second and final starting flight of the Potomac Summer Poker Open $3,000 Main Event got underway at MGM National Harbor, with 52 runners already in the mix during Level 1. The field was still chasing the event’s $750,000 guarantee, and the players who survive Day 1b will join the Day 1a bag.
According to PokerNews, Day 1a drew 100 entries and sent 20 players through to Day 2, with David Van Noy leading the way on 655,000 and Justin Liberto close behind on 638,000. Ed Hill finished with 495,000, while Casey Hatmaker, Samuel Rosen, Ari Katz, Nicholas Verderamo, Faraz Jaka and Christian Harder also moved on.
The structure for the $3,000 buy-in event is straightforward. Players start with 60,000 chips, play 45-minute levels on Day 1, and get breaks after every three levels. Late registration stays open through the start of Level 13, with 15 levels scheduled for the starting flight and a one-hour dinner break after Level 9.
PokerNews had said Day 1b would be much bigger than Day 1a, with the poker room expected to be packed as the final entry window stayed open. The remaining stacks are set to combine for Day 2 at noon on Aug. 16, before the tournament moves on to the final table on Aug. 17 at 1 p.m.
