Spraggy Advances as Sunday Million Entries Reach 24,881
PokerStars still has Phase 1s running, but 799 players have already booked seats for the Sept. 6 stage
With Sept. 6 still three weeks away, the Sunday Million 20th Anniversary had already processed 24,881 entries across completed $109 Phase 1s, and 799 players had locked up Phase 2 seats. Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg was among them after turning a 10,000-chip start into 187,043 chips, enough to sit 544th in the current standings.
PokerNews reported that Phase 1 action was still continuing, so that qualifying picture could still change before Phase 2 gets underway. As reported in July, PokerStars had been stringing together daily Phase 1s in the build-up to the Sept. 6 cutoff.
The lobby was still listing $109 Phase 1s for Aug. 13-15 at 4:25 p.m., 7:25 p.m. and 10:25 p.m. BST. Each flight began with 10,000 chips, used 10-minute levels, allowed up to three re-entries while late registration was open for about 100 minutes, and ended when only 3% of the field remained.
The top of the Phase 2 leaderboard was led by Austria’s go1vs1 legko with 1,076,054 chips, while Canada’s getdamoney was the other player above seven figures with 1,045,132. To crack the top 10, players needed more than 863,000 chips.
Other qualifiers already on the board included roo_400, P0TCHECKER99, Steven “SvZff” van Zadelhoff, efkinis24, Peter “Belabacsi” Traply, Tom “Tom_Poker_NL” Talboom, Blaise “bigdaddyblaise” Bourgeois, Jussi “calvin7v” Nevanlinna, Dalton “daltonhb” Hobold, Tobias “TOBSEN_TE9” Eichenseher, Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson, Sintoras, Patrick “JaegsPL” Lauber, Robin “robinho” Ylitalo, Simon “TaxationIsTheft” Gilles, Andreas “mrAndreeew” Berggren and PokerStars’ Marle “MarlzTV” Spragg.
The event’s qualifying funnel was still wide open. Satellites started at $0.55, special Spin & Go games were listed at $0.75 and $4, and the Ticket Machine promotion was still handing out 918 $109 seats every Saturday while allowing players to complete challenges up to four times for as many as 20 entries in the next draw.
